Residential
Apartments and Condominiums
Connect residential units, common areas, property offices, surveillance, access control, and building systems.
Multi-dwelling properties need to connect more than resident units. Surveillance, access control, shared spaces, parking, outdoor systems, and remote equipment can place different demands on the same network. D-Link solutions help bring those connected environments together from core to edge.
Whether you are building new, expanding capacity, or modernizing older infrastructure, choose switching, PoE, fiber, cellular, industrial networking, and surveillance solutions that help address bandwidth, power, uplinks, hard-to-wire locations, and centralized management.
Connect more of the property without treating every space like a separate network.
Bring together switching, PoE, fiber, cellular, and industrial networking to support residential areas, shared spaces, network closets, parking structures, outdoor locations, service areas, and remote equipment.

Application Scenario
For properties where most connected devices use 1GbE or PoE+,
this architecture provides broad access across buildings, floors,
wings, network closets, shared spaces, and other property areas.
10GbE fiber uplinks carry aggregated traffic between access,
distribution, and core layers.
This approach helps connect more areas of the property without
requiring Multi-Gigabit connectivity at every edge/access location,
while providing higher-capacity 10GbE uplinks where network traffic
comes together.
Architecture Overview
Use 1GbE and PoE+ at the edge/access layer where it fits connected device requirements, with 10GbE fiber uplinks carrying aggregated traffic between access, distribution, and core switching layers.
Layer 3 switching for aggregation, routing, centralized services, and property infrastructure. Applicable models also provide PoE+ for connected devices.
Layer 3 switching with 10GbE connectivity for buildings, floors, wings, equipment rooms, and network closets. Applicable models also provide PoE+.
Layer 3 Lite features with 10GbE SFP+ uplinks and 1GbE or PoE+ device connections on applicable models. DGS-1530 adds physical stacking; DGS-1250 provides managed access without physical stacking.
Apartments, condominiums, dormitories, hotels, senior living communities, mixed-use properties, and other environments with distributed access locations.
How the Architecture Connects
The switching layers use 10GbE fiber links, while compatible cameras, wireless access points, phones, intercoms, access-control systems, and other property devices connect through 1GbE and PoE+ ports on applicable switch models.
The centralized core or aggregation layer connects to distribution switching through compatible 10GbE SFP+ fiber links.
Distribution switching extends 10GbE connectivity to either DGS-1530 or DGS-1250 access switching. The two access families are alternatives rather than required serial layers.
The access switches use 10GbE SFP+ uplinks toward distribution and provide 1GbE or PoE+ connections for compatible property devices.
Each access switch can combine traffic from many connected devices. A 10GbE uplink provides additional capacity to carry aggregated camera, wireless access point, phone, access-control, intercom, and other device traffic toward the distribution and core layers.

Cellular and Industrial Edge Connectivity
Bring 5G or 4G service to outdoor parking, EV charging, surveillance, signage, kiosks, and other systems beyond the main building network. Wired Gigabit LAN and PoE+ connections can then link and power devices at the remote site.
5G/4G M2M and IoT Applications
5G or 4G connectivity can help extend network access to EV charging, digital signage, surveillance, parking and access control, smart lockers, kiosks, utility areas, and other property systems where wired connectivity may be limited or difficult to extend.
Outdoor Edge Architecture
A cellular gateway extends 5G or 4G connectivity to the outdoor site, while industrial Ethernet and PoE support EV charging equipment, surveillance cameras, and other connected systems. Traffic can return to the property network for recording, monitoring, control, and centralized operations.
Cellular Backhaul
Extend Connectivity to the Outdoor Site5G or 4G connectivity provides a network path to parking and EV charging areas where extending the building's wired infrastructure may be difficult or cost-prohibitive.

*Cellular data rates are theoretical and depend on carrier service, network capacity, signal strength, antenna placement, environmental conditions, configuration, and connected-device requirements. D-ECS requires a compatible license. Published dimensions, weights, certifications, enclosure ratings, mounting provisions, and other physical specifications can vary by hardware revision. DWM-314-GP dimensions shown represent the current overall installation dimensions. Confirm the applicable hardware revision and current product documentation before final selection or enclosure planning.
Outdoor and Remote Connectivity
Some property areas, such as parking, gates, EV charging locations, surveillance areas, and remote equipment, need network connectivity outside the main building. The DIS-210G Series offers industrial switches with PoE when compatible devices need power from the switch, and non-PoE options when connected equipment already has its own power source.
Plan the Complete Deployment
Compare additional cellular gateways, industrial switches, transceivers, management options, and deployment guides in the Resources section.
Dimensions are shown as length × width × height and do not include external power supplies, cables, transceivers, or required enclosure clearances. Product availability, interfaces, PoE support, power budgets, power-input requirements, mounting accessories, dimensions, weight, supported features, and hardware revisions may vary. IP40 does not provide weatherproof protection. For outdoor installations, place the switch in a suitable weather-rated enclosure with the required power, grounding, ventilation, surge protection, and environmental protection. Confirm current product documentation before final selection or enclosure planning.
