How Many Wi-Fi Access Points Do I Need?

The D-Link Guardian Multi-Gig Routers can centrally manage up to 10-15 D-Link Guardian Wi-Fi 6 X3000 Access Points on-site. For planning purposes and loose guidance, many small spaces start around 1-2 APs, mid-size offices or clinics around 2-4 APs, and larger or higher-density areas often use 4-6+ APs. On campuses, think in “pods” by building or floor: auditoriums/gyms often need 4-10+ APs (crowd/bleacher areas drive the count), while dorms/residence halls/hotel rooms commonly start at about 1 AP per 2–4 rooms per floor. Counts are planning estimates only; actual placement and quantity depend on building materials, ceiling height, client mix, and throughput goals

Retail & Boutiques

2-4 D-Link Guardian Access Points for sales floor + backroom coverage.

Clinics & Practices

3-5 D-Link Guardian Access Points for lobby, halls, and exam rooms.

Restaurants & Cafés

2-4 D-Link Guardian Access Points for dining, kitchen pass, and office

Business & Office

3-6 D-Link Guardian Access Points for desks, huddle rooms, and conference areas.
