Products purchased directly from the official shop.us.dlink.com site may be returned within 30 days of the delivery date, subject to the terms and conditions below.
To initiate a return, customers must contact D-Link to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) and return instructions. Returns received without an approved RMA may not be processed.
Returned products must be received in good condition and include:
- the unit with an intact serial/UPC label
- original power supply
- all accessories originally included
- Proof of purchase or invoice
We strongly recommend including the original packaging and documentation. If items are missing, damaged, or show signs of excessive use, the refund amount may be reduced accordingly.

Restocking Fees
Returned products may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 15%, at D-Link’s discretion, based on product condition, completeness, and the nature of the return.

Can I connect both 1GbE and 2.5GbE devices to the DMS-1016?
Yes. Each of the 16 Ethernet ports on the DMS-1016 supports 10/100Mbps, 1GbE, and up to 2.5GbE through auto-negotiation. Gigabit devices can connect at up to 1GbE while devices that support 2.5GbE can connect at up to 2.5GbE on the same switch.1
Do I need to configure the DMS-1016 or install management software?
No. The DMS-1016 is an unmanaged, plug-and-play switch. Simply connect your Ethernet devices. Auto-negotiation and Auto MDI/MDI-X are designed to detect supported connections and help establish supported Ethernet connections without switch software configuration.
Does the DMS-1016 provide Power over Ethernet (PoE)?
No. The DMS-1016 provides Ethernet data connectivity but does not supply PoE power. Devices that require Power over Ethernet, such as PoE cameras, access points, or VoIP phones, require an appropriate PoE switch, PoE injector, or other PoE power source.
Do QoS, IGMP Snooping, and Flow Control work automatically?
Yes. The DMS-1016 includes built-in IEEE 802.1p Quality of Service (QoS), IGMP Snooping, and IEEE 802.3x Flow Control. These features are designed to operate without manual switch software configuration. QoS helps prioritize traffic, IGMP Snooping helps manage multicast traffic, and Flow Control helps manage congestion between connected devices.
What does up to 80 Gbps switching capacity mean?
The DMS-1016 provides up to 80 Gbps of aggregate switching capacity across the switch. This helps accommodate simultaneous traffic from multiple connected devices for activities such as file transfers, gaming, streaming, surveillance, and media workflows. Individual Ethernet ports support up to 2.5GbE.1
Will my existing Ethernet cables work with the DMS-1016?
Yes, in many cases. You do not need a special Multi-Gig Ethernet cable. Existing Cat5e or better Ethernet cabling can support 2.5GbE connections. To connect at up to 2.5GbE, the device at the other end must also support 2.5GbE.1
Does the DMS-1016 support Jumbo Frames?
Yes. The DMS-1016 supports Jumbo Frames up to 12,288 bytes. Jumbo Frames allow larger amounts of data to be carried in each Ethernet frame and can be useful for large data transfers involving network storage, servers, workstations, backups, and media workflows.1
Can I use the DMS-1016 on a desktop, in a rack, or in an AV media cabinet?
Yes. The DMS-1016 features a fanless metal housing and internal power supply and can be placed on a desktop or installed in a standard 19-inch rack. It can also be placed in a compatible AV media cabinet where fit, ventilation, and installation requirements are met.*
